What Is The Difference Between Electrochemical Series And Galvanic Series?

Open in App
Solution

Electrochemical series

Galvanic series

The electrochemical series of elements is the orderly arrangement of the chemical elements which shows their standard electrode potential. The galvanic series are those series in which the arrangement of metals and nonmetals are according to their nobility.
It is based on the principle of standard hydrogen electrode potential. The principle is based on the galvanic corrosion of metal s and alloys.
The measurement can be done with help of metal, which is immersed into the electrolyte as a cathode, and electrode potential is then calculated. The measurement can be done with the help of two metal electrodes connected to an external current source and then measuring the galvanic corrosion of metals.
The position of the metal is fixed in the series. The position of metal can vary according to environmental conditions.
Alloys are not included in this.Alloys are included in this.
It can be applied for metals and nonmetals. It can be applied to metals, nonmetals, and alloys.
It can predict the relative displacement tendencies. It can predict the relative displacement tendencies.
It is quantitative in nature. It is qualitative in nature
It can be used for theoretical applications. It can be used for practical applications.
