These are elongated.	These are broad.
They have tapering end walls.	They have blunt end walls.
They are unbranched.	They may be branched or unbranched.
They originate from meristematic cells.	They are formed by the thickening of parenchyma cells.
For example- wood fibers, bast fibers.	For example- macrosclereids, osteosclereids.
