Following are the differences between fimbriae and pilli:-
Fimbriae Pilli
It s present in Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. It is present only in Gram negative bacteria.
It is formed by bacterial genes. It is formed by plasmid genes.
It is involved in attachment from cell to the surface in bacteria. It is involved in bacterial conjugation as sex pilli.
