Question

What is the difference between glycolate cycle and c2 cycle?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
In photorespiration when oxygen combines with Rubisco then 3-phosphoglycerate and 2-phosphoglycolate is formed. The pathway which metabolizes 2-phosphoglycolate is called C2 cycle/glycolate cycle/oxidative photosynthetic carbon cycle.
Therefore there is no difference between C2 cycle and glycolate cycle.
