Question

what is the difference between gross sown area and net sown area

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The difference between the Gross Cropped Area (GCA) and Net Sown Area (NSA) is that:
  • Net Sown Area is the total land area sown with crops more than once in a year; whereas, Gross Sown area is the total land area sown with crops once or more in a year, plus the net sown area.
  • When a crop is sown for a second time in the same year, the GCA is counted twice; whereas NSA is counted once despite being sown more than once.
