Question

What is the difference between LHC and Photosystems?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student
Difference between LHC and Photosystems are :-

Photosystem OR Photosynthetic Reaction Center (PRC) is known as functional unit of photosynthesis. In the photosystem II (PSII) reaction center, energy from sunlight is used to extract electrons from water. The electrons travel through the chloroplast electron transport chain to photosystem I (PSI), which reduces NADP+ to NADPH.

Light harvesting complex OR Antenna molecules are used by plants and photosynthetic bacteria to collect more of the incoming light and transfer it to the PS molecule. The light-harvesting complex (or antenna complex) is an array of protein and chlorophyll molecules embedded in the thylakoid membrane of plants and cyanobacteria, which transfer light energy to one chlorophyll a molecule at the reaction center of a photosystem.
