What is the difference between nascent oxygen and oxygen atom?

Nascent Oxygen: Oxygen alone is a very reactive species as it has unpaired electron and tries to get its electron paired up. It is a short-lived free radical of oxygen. "O" stands for one atom of oxygen.

  • Difference between ordinary oxygen and nascent oxygen:

O2 O ( nascent oxygen)
It is not very much reactive. It is very reactive.
Two oxygen atoms combined with each other and form oxygen molecule. In this single atom of oxygen is present.
It is not a powerful oxidizer. Powerful oxidizer.
