Question

What is the difference between percolation and absorption?

Open in App
Solution

Percolation literally means to filter through when passed through some porous material or substance while absorption simply means absorbing of any liquid by any absorbent.

Percolated liquid= total liquid passed- liquid absorbed by the absorbent.

Percolation rate is defined as the rate at which water trickles down the soil. A soil with more percolation rate can hold water for a longer time and a soil with poor percolation rate can hold water for a shorter time.
