Question

What is the difference between Resonant frequency and source frequency ( with reference to CBSE class 12th NCERT , Phy CH 7 Exercise Q 7.6 and Q7.11 ) ?

Solution

Resonance frequency of a LCR cicuit is the frequency at which both inductive and capacitive reactance become equal and cancel each other.
This frequency is fixed for a particular circuit with a constant inductance and capacitance.

Source frequency is the frequency of the ac current that is driving the circuit.
This can be any value.
But remember that only when source frequency equals to the resonance frequency, the phenomenon of resonance happen.
So you need to adjust the source frequency to match with the resonance frequency to get the resonance condition.
This is what happening in a radio.
