What is the difference between scion and stock in grafting?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student, In grafting technique, root from one plant is taken as stock whereas scion is other plant parts like stem, leaf. The vascular tissue of both stock & scion join together tightly in order to produce new plant. Scion is the desired plant part like stem, leaf, flower to be duplicated whereas stock is rooted plant in which scion is inserted. Regards.
