Question

What is the difference between spore formation and multiple fission ?

Open in App
Solution

Spore formationis the mode of asexual reproduction in some organisms like fungi in which it gives rise to a globular structure known assporangia, which contains spores. The sporangia burst to release spores and each of these spores germinates to produce a new individual. In multiple fission the nucleus divides several times simultaneously or successively into a number of daughter nuclei and then the cytoplasm divides into as many cells as there are nuclei each cell containing a nucleus. It is the common form of asexual reproduction in certain acellular organisms.
