Question

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SYNAPSE & SYNAPTIC CLEFT ?

Open in App
Solution

Synaptic cleft is a part of synapse.

The information flows from one neuron to another neuron through synapse.

Synapse consist of presynaptic ending (contains nuerotransmitter, mitochondria and other cell organelles), post synatic ending (contain receptor site of nuerotransmitter) and synaptic cleft.

Presynaptic neuron and the postsynaptic neuron are separated by a small gap — the synaptic cleft. The synaptic cleft is filled with extracellular fluid.
