What is the difference between the alimentary canal of most carnivores and that of the animal shown in the figure?
Most carnivores have a single chambered stomach, but this animal has a 4 chambered stomach.
Most carnivores have a single-chambered stomach, but cows have 4 chambers in their stomach which helps in the digestion of cellulose in them. The cow is a ruminant where the stomach is divided into four compartments - rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum. They chew a cud consisting of regurgitated, partially digested food. This is because the main component of their food is grass which is rich in cellulose. Ruminants include cattle, sheep, goats, deer, giraffes, antelopes, and camels.
