Question

What is the difference between the direct and alternating currents? How many times does AC used in India change direction in one second?

Open in App
Solution

In case of AC; the direction of current keeps on changing at fixed intervals or periodically, while the direction of current always remains the same in case of DC.
The AC in India changes its direction at the rate of 100 times in a second, which is equal to 50 Hz and in each cycle it alters direction twice, hence 100 times a second.
