  • For example, plants are producers.​

Third trophic level​

  • The organisms at the third trophic level in a food chain are secondary consumers. ​

  • They cannot prepare their own food.​

  • They are either carnivores or omnivores. ​

  • They feed on herbivorous animals or primary consumers.​

  • For example, frogs; feed on insects.​
