  1. Molecule of an element contains atoms of same type.
  2. Example: Molecule of hydrogen (H2): It contains two atoms of same type i.e. hydrogen (H) atoms.

Molecule of a compound:

  1. Molecule of a compound contains atoms of different type.
  2. Example: Molecule of water (H2O): It contains atoms of two different types i.e. two hydrogen (H) atoms and one oxygen (O) atom.
