2. Example: Molecule of hydrogen $\left({\mathrm{H}}_2\right)$: It contains two atoms of same type i.e. hydrogen $\left(\mathrm{H}\right)$ atoms.

Molecule of a compound:

1. Molecule of a compound contains atoms of different type.
2. Example: Molecule of water $\left({\mathrm{H}}_2\mathrm{O}\right)$: It contains atoms of two different types i.e. two hydrogen $\left(\mathrm{H}\right)$ atoms and one oxygen $\left(\mathrm{O}\right)$ atom.
