Solution:
Coastal Plain: A coastal plain is a low-lying land adjacent to the seacoast. An imaginary line marks the border between a coastal plain and a piedmont area. There are two divisions of the coastal plain namely the western coast and eastern coast.
Western Coastal Plain:
It is located between the Western Ghats and the Arabian sea. It is extended from Rann of Kutch in the north to Kanyakumari in the south. It is divided into Konkan, Kanara and Malabar. Shallow lagoons and backwaters (Kayals) and Teris can be found here.
Eastern Coastal Plain:
It is located between the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal. It stretches along West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Northern part of the plain lies between the Mahanadi and Krishna and is called Northern Circars. While the southern part lies below Krishna is called the Coromandel coast.
