What is the difference between Washing soda and soda ash?

Washing Soda:- It is the common name for hydrated Sodium carbonate(Na2SO4.10H2O).

Soda Ash:- It is the common name for anhydrous Sodium carbonate(Na2SO4).

Difference between washing soda and soda ash:-

  1. Washing soda contains water of crystallization while Soda ash doesn't.
  2. Washing soda produces lather when mixed with water while soda ash does not produce lather.
