Question

What is the direction of buoyant force?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Definition: The force that enables objects to float is known as buoyancy. It is the force applied to an item that is partially or completely submerged in a fluid. Buoyancy is created by pressure differences occurring on opposing sides of a static fluid-immersed object. It is often referred to as the buoyant force.
  2. Whenever the users immerse an object in a fluid, it experiences an upward force. This same fluid exerts this force somewhat on the item, causing it to rise, this would be known as the Force of Buoyancy.
  3. The difference in pressure causes a net upward pull on the item, which we call buoyancy.
  4. The unit of the buoyant force is Newton(N).

Therefore, the direction of the buoyant force is vertically upward.
