If d(X, Y) is the distance between points X and Y then
d(X, Y) = X - Y (if X > Y) or Y - X (if X < Y) [1 Mark]
In the given question point Q is 5 and point B is 2.
As Q < B, d(Q, B) = B - Q = 2 - (-5) = 7
∴ distance between point Q and point B, d(Q, B) = 7. [1 Mark]
d(X, Y) = X - Y (if X > Y) or Y - X (if X < Y) [1 Mark]
In the given question point Q is 5 and point B is 2.
As Q < B, d(Q, B) = B - Q = 2 - (-5) = 7
