Solution
Spore formation:
Spore formation is a mode of asexual reproduction that works in unfavourable conditions. The sporangium that contains spores bursts open and releases the spores, which then disperse and form new individuals under favourable conditions.
Asexual reproduction through spore formation can be observed by conducting the following experiment using bread.
A moist slice of bread is taken and kept in a humid and dark place.
After observation for 3-4 days, a white cottony growth can be seen on the bread surface.
This white cottony growth has aerial structures called hyphae that contain the sporangia. Spores are present within the sporangia, which burst on reaching maturity and release the spores into the air.
The spores later form new individuals under appropriate conditions.
