Question

what is the effect of dilution on conductivity and molar conductivity of solution?

Open in App
Solution

Conductance is define for the no.of ions per ml. On dilution as volume of solution increase. Thus no.of ions per ml decrease and hence conductivity decreases.
Molar conductivity is defined for 1 mole of ions. Thus on dilution ions more apart and mobility of ions increase which leads to increase in molar conductivity of the solution.
