Solution

  1. The speed of sound in a medium depends on the temperature of the medium.
  2. In fact, speed of sound in any medium increases with increase in temperature.
  3. For example, the speed of sound in air is 331 m/s at 0°C and 343 m s at 20°C.
  4. In air, speed of sound increases by 0.6 m/s (approximately) for every 1°C rise in temperature.
  5. Hence, speed of sound increases with increase in temperature.
