Solution

The correct option is A Delayed
In certain organisms which undergo indirect development, there is an intermediate larval stage. In frogs, the larval stage is called tadpole. This tadpole undergoes drastic changes to give rise to an adult frog. The process by which a tadpole develops into a mature adult frog is called metamorphosis. This process is also seen in certain insects like butterflies. Thyroxine hormone produced by the thyroid gland plays a key role in the metamorphosis of frogs. Iodine is essential for the production of thyroxine. Thus, low levels of iodine decreases the level of thyroxine production which in turn delays the metamorphosis of the frog.
