Question

What is the effect of rise in temperature on the density of mercury in a barometer and hence its reading?

Since increase in temperature leads to decrease in density . Now in thermometer, same mass will occupy more volume due to increase in temperature. So it will raise the level in thermometer and it will record increases in reading.
