Solution
Protein digestion:
Protein digestion first starts as mechanical digestion in the mouth. Once protein reaches the stomach HCl and other enzymes such as proteases break down into smaller chains of amino acids.
Proteins are digested from larger polypeptides to smaller polypeptides in the stomach by the pepsin enzyme.
Pepsin is secreted by peptic or chief cells as proenzyme pepsinogen then in the duodenum by trypsin, chymotrypsin, dipeptidase, exopeptidase, etc.
So, the chemical digestion of protein starts in the stomach and ends in the small intestine.
Hence, the end product of protein digestion is amino acids.
