1. Protein catabolism is the same as protein digestion, in which proteins are broken down to amino acids by protease enzymes.
2. This process is also called proteolysis since it is the lysis or cleavage of proteins.
3. This catabolism is necessary since smaller peptides are easier to use by cells.

So ,the end product of protein catabolism is amino acids. these amino acids undergo other processes such as deamination and transamination to produce intermediates of the TCA cycle and also for ATP synthesis.
