Solution

Protein Metabolism:

  1. Protein metabolism is also called proteometabolism, it involves both catabolism and anabolism.
  2. Anabolism is the synthesis of proteins and amino acids by transcription, translation and catabolism involve the breakdown of proteins by proteolytic enzyme.
  3. This process occurs in the liver, specifically, the deamination of amino acids, urea formation for removal of ammonia, and plasma protein synthesis.

Amino acid :

  1. This metabolism acts like a chemical cycle breaking down proteins into amino acids and using those amino acids synthesizing proteins.
  2. Amino acids which are produced by deamination and transamination are important intermediates for another metabolic cycle.
  3. Excess amino acids are utilized for energy production.
