Solution
Ovulation:
It is a phase of the cycle in which a mature egg is released from the ovary.
The released egg then moves to the fallopian tube and stays for about 24 hours.
In the fallopian tube, the egg is ready for fertilization.
Ovulation occurs about 14 days before the next menstrual cycle starts.
The fate of the Graafian follicle after ovulation:
During the ovulation phase, the luteinizing hormone induces the rupture of the Graafian follicle.
This occurs during the secretory phase.
After the release of the egg, the empty Graafian follicle transforms into corpus luteum.
The Corpus luteum releases the hormone progesterone which helps in the preparation of the uterus for pregnancy and maintains the endometrium for implantation.
