Embryonic germ layers:

  1. These are formed in the earliest stages of embryonic development, made up of three layers.
  2. The first formed layer is the endoderm or inner layer, the ectoderm or outer layer, and the mesoderm or middle layer.
  3. Each layer of cells differentiates into tissues and embryonic organs.
  4. The endoderm differentiates into the gut and many internal organs.
  5. The mesoderm differentiates into the muscle cells and connective tissue in the body.
  6. The ectoderm differentiates into the nervous system and the epidermis, among other tissues.
