Question

What is the formula we use for finding energy while finding dimensional formula for planks constant?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Quantum theory of radiation suggests that energy of radiation is quantized. The quantum of energy is called 'photon' and this quantum depends on its frequency.

The constant of proportionality between Energy of photon and frequency is called Plank's constant h.

E = hv

E=h ν. where v is frequency of radiations.dimensional formula for E=ML2T-2 AND DIMENSIONAL FORMULA for v= T-1.Therefore dimensional formula for Plank's h=Ev=ML2T-2 T-1=ML2T-1.
