Cranium and its functions:

  1. The cranium is a part of the brain skull.
  2. The entire skull is made up of twenty two bones, eight of which are cranial bones.
  3. The two main parts of the cranium are the cranial roof and the cranial base.
  4. Connected to the cranial bones are facial bones that give structure to the face and a place for the facial muscles to attach.
  5. Together, the cranial and facial bones make up the complete skull.
  6. The cranium holds and protects the brain.
  7. It also allows passage of the cranial nerves that are essential for the functioning of the brain.
