  1. Enterokinase is an enzyme in the intestinal juice that converts inactive trypsinogen into active trypsin.
  2. It is produced by Brunner's gland in the membrane lining of the duodenum.

The function of Enterokinase is

  1. The enzyme of intestinal juice.
  2. Required for activation of Trypsin, also called Enteropeptidase
  3. It is present in the epithelial cells of the brush border of the duodenal mucosa.
  4. Bile salts help in their liberation into the intestinal lumen.
