The pancreas secretes several enzymes into the small intestine. It secretes enzyme trypsin and chymotrypsin to digest proteins, amylase to break down carbohydrates and lipase to break down fats into fatty acids and cholesterol. The gall bladder helps with the digestion of fat. It stores and concentrates bile but when we eat fatty foods, the gallbladder contracts and squeezes bile through the bile duct. The bile is then mixed into the semi-digested food in the small intestine.
