Question

What is the function of phloem fibers

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Phloem fibres are also known as bast fibres .
As the name suggests they are found in phloem which is a complex tissue responsible for conduction of carbohydrates in plants.

The phloem fibres support the conductive cells of the phloem (sieve cells and companion cells) and also provide strength to the plant stem.

Regards.
