Question

What is the function of photosynthetic pigments in the light-harvesting complex?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The pigments are organised into the photochemical light-harvesting complexes (LHC); Photosystem I and Photosystem II. The LHC are formed of protein and pigment molecules which are responsible for light reactions of photosynthesis. These pigments absorb the different wavelength of sunlight and make photosynthesis more efficient.
