What is the function of the pollen tube?
They transport the male gamete cells from the stigma to the ovules.
The pollen grain fallen on the stigma germinates into a pollen tube. The pollen tube grows through the style and reaches the ovule and helps in fertilising the ovule.
Pollen tubes are produced by the male gametophytes of seed bearing plants. They act as conduits to transport the male gamete cells from the pollen grain or from the stigma (in flowering plants) to the ovules at the base of the pistil.
