Open in App
Solution

Endoplasmic reticulum:

  1. A network of membranous tubules present in the cytoplasm of an eukaryotic cell is known as endoplasmic reticulum.
  2. Endoplasmic reticulum is continuous with the nuclear membrane.
  3. Endoplasmic reticulum plays an important roe in protein synthesis, lipid metabolism and calcium storage.
  4. Endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes attached to it.

Ribosomes on endoplasmic reticulum:

  1. Ribosomes are small round organelles.
  2. Presence of ribosomes on the endoplasmic reticulum makes it rough.
  3. The function of ribosomes is protein synthesis.
  4. Thus, the endoplasmic reticulum and the ribosomes function together to produce proteins and transport them to their final destination.
