What is the function of the septum situated within the heart?

Open in App
Solution

In the heart, the septum is present between the right and left atrium (known as an atrial septum) as well as (known as a ventricular septum). The septum separates the atria and ventricles in such a way that it forms a barrier between the heart chambers and this prevents the mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.
