Ureter:

  1. The ureter is a narrow tube that originates from the kidney and reaches the bladder.
  2. Along with the ureter, urethra, urinary bladder, and kidneys together forms a urinary system.
  3. There are two ureters, one from one kidney.

Functions of the ureter:

Urine is transported from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via the ureters.

Urethra:

  1. It is a final tube that carries urine and leaves the body.
  2. The length of the urethra differs between males and females, in females urethra is smaller, while in males it is the longest.

Functions of the urethra:

  1. The main function urethra is to expel urine out of the body.
  2. In males, it helps in the ejection of semen, the expulsion of urine, prevention of liquid from passing back to the urethra, and also protects bacteria from entering the body.
