What is the function of the uterus?
Uterus:
1. The uterus is part of the female reproductive system.
2. It is a pear-shaped part in between the urinary bladder and rectum in the pelvic cavity.
3. It is divided into three parts fundus, body, and cervix.
4. In the uterus, the fertilized ovum is implanted for development.
Functions:
1. The internal wall of the uterus known as the endometrium acts as a site for the implantation of the blastocyst (developed embryo) which developed from the fertilized ovum.
2. The development of fetus takes place here.
3. Contraction of the uterus helps in the parturition of fetus.
