Gametophyte:

  1. Plants reproduce by asexual reproduction like budding and spore formation, as well as by sexual reproduction where the male gamete fuses with the female gamete in order to produce offspring.
  2. Male gametophyte of a flowering plant is pollen grain which consists of two cells namely: a vegetative cell and a generative or germ cell.
  3. The female gametophyte or megagametophyte is the embryo sac that is responsible for the formation of female gametes.
  4. Embryo sac is an 8 nucleate 7 celled structure having two synergid cells, three antipodal cells, one egg cell, and one central cell.
