Open in App
Solution

The general rule is that we have to round off each number to its greatest place.

General rule for rounding:

1 ) If the number you are rounding is followed by 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, round the number up.

Example: 108 rounded to the nearest ten is 110. and nearest hundred = 100

2 ) If the number you are rounding is followed by 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, round the number down.

Example: 103 rounded to the nearest ten is 100 . and nearest hundred = 100

Eg : round off 6157+43
6157 is rounded off to nearest thousands as 6000.
43 is rounded off to nearest tens as 40.
So, 6157+43 =6000+40 =6040
