Question

What is the heaviest element found inside stars?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Iron is the heaviest element that can be made inside stars. Iron is formed by the fusion (the combination of smaller nuclei to give heavier nucleus) of lighter elements.
Elements that are heavier than iron undergo fission (Splitting of a heavy nucleus into smaller nuclei) to give lighter elements.
However, iron does not undergo fusion or fission due to the high stability of iron.

Hence, the answer is Iron.
