Free and fair election is one of the most important aspect of a democracy. For a country to be called democratic in true sense, it is very important that the government of that country is elected by the citizens in a free and fair election.
The election commission is responsible for conducting free and fair elections in India. It is an independent body.The different measures taken to ensure free and fair elections in India are as follows:-

1. Election should be conducted at regular intervals.
2. Voters and the voting machines should be well protected to avoid any malpractices.
3. There should be no misuse of government machineries by the ruling party.
4. There should be no misuse of money and muscle power to intimidate the voters.
