  1. Vernier caliper works on the principle of alignment of the line segment.

A vernier caliper is a tool for measuring precision. It can be used for three different kinds of measurements:

  1. Distance from the outside (such as the length of an object).
  2. Inside distance, such as a groove's width or the diameter of a large hole.
  3. And depth, such as a hole's depth or the height of a step.
  4. The object is placed between the two jaws of the vernier caliper whose length is determined as shown in the figure:
