Open in App
Solution

Respiration:

  1. Respiration is a chemical process of breaking down of the food (glucose) inside the cells in presence of oxygen to release energy.
  2. This process can be represented schematically: Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon dioxide + Water + Energy
  3. C6H12O6 + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H2O
  4. Respiration is an important mechanism for plants, as it provides energy to the plants to carry out different types of metabolic processes.
  5. The food produced during photosynthesis is utilized in two processes that is glycolysis and the Krebs cycle within the cytoplasm and mitochondria of each cell and that releases the energy that plants need to perform all necessary functions.
  6. The carbon dioxide is balanced due to this process as excess of that is released during that.
