Nucleus:

  1. The nucleus is a large, centrally located spherical located cellular component.
  2. It is bounded by two nuclear membranes, both forming a nuclear envelope.
  3. The nuclear envelope separates the nucleus from the cytoplasm.
  4. It controls the structure and working of cells.
  5. It represents the whole eukaryotic complex that contains genetic information.

Functions of the nucleus:

  1. Control the genetic information of the cell and thus the genetic characteristics of an organism.
  2. Control protein and enzyme synthesis
  3. Control cell division and cell growth
  4. Storage of DNA, RNA, and ribosomes
  5. Regulate mRNA for protein transcription
  6. Production of ribosomes.
