Open in App
Solution

  1. Algae are chlorophyll-bearing, simple, autotrophic and largely aquatic (both fresh water and marine) organisms.
  2. The algae reproduce by vegetative, asexual and sexual methods.
  3. Sexual reproduction in algae occurs through the fusion of two gametes.
  4. When both the gametes undergoing fusion are similar in size, such reproduction is called isogamous.
  5. Common examples of such reproduction in algae are Ulothrix, spirogyra etc.
