Solution
Small Intestine:
The small intestine is the largest part of the digestive system or alimentary canal where most of the digestion and absorption takes place.
The small intestine is about 20 feet long and it lies in coiled form within the abdominal cavity, extending between the stomach and the large intestine.
It is a very narrow tube with a large internal surface area
It is divided into three segments: duodenum, jejunum and ileum.
In the small intestine, the complete digestion of carbohydrates, protein and fats takes place.
The food that is digested is absorbed into the blood vessels in the walls of the intestine. This process is aided by the small finger-like projections called villi present on the walls of the small intestine.
